🐾💙 MEET JASPER — BUILDING TRUST ONE DAY AT A TIME 💙🐾

Jasper is a 1-year-old Chihuahua who found himself at Plumas Animal Services after being surrendered along with several of his doggie friends.

At only a year old, Jasper has already experienced a major change in his world. Now he’s beginning a new chapter — one where he can learn that he is safe and that people can be trusted. ❤️

Jasper enjoys living with other dogs his size or slightly larger, and having canine friends around helps him feel more comfortable and confident. People are a little harder for him right now.

Since the person Jasper once depended upon gave up on him, he is still working through some trust issues with humans. We’re giving him the time, patience and space he needs to develop relationships at his own pace.

We don’t expect Jasper to simply “get over it.” Trust takes time, and Jasper gets to set the pace. 🐾

For now, Jasper is not yet available for adoption while he continues building confidence and learning that humans can bring good things into his life.

Until then, there’s no deadline and no reason to rush him. We’ll celebrate the little victories — a curious approach, a relaxed body, choosing to stay close, and eventually deciding that maybe people aren’t so bad after all. ❤️
