🍪🐾 Meet Cookies – A Sweet Soul Seeking Safety & Understanding 🐾🍪

Cookies is a 5-year-old spayed female Chihuahua mix who came to us from the Oakland shelter in October 2024. Her past was rough – after escaping her previous home, she bit a passerby’s dog and, in her panic, also bit the passerby on the ankle and hand while they tried to protect their dog. Sadly, her owners gave up on her, and Cookies was left petrified at the shelter, air-snapping to keep people away.

Since arriving with us, Cookies has shown that beneath her fear is a sweet but conflicted little girl who just needs time, patience, and understanding. She cohabitates well with other small dogs and is slowly learning that people can be kind and safe.

✅ No forced handling – she is still learning to be comfortable with collars and harnesses

✅ A safe, separate space while eating so she never feels threatened

With time and love, Cookies will continue to blossom into the little dog she was always meant to be. Right now, we are still working to build her trust and confidence before she’s ready for adoption, but we know her special person is out there waiting to give her the chance she deserves.
